One of the essential elements of a journalist is to stay informed. We have to read and watch in various media to know what is happening around us. 

My favorite site for information is "El Desconcierto". It is a Chilean digital media created in 2012 that is dedicated to deliver information on national and international issues. It has news about the country's contingency, trends, economy, reports, culture, common goods, sports and international. I access this website on a daily basis. 

What I like most about this media is that it is independent. That means that it is not governed by the monopoly of the classic news media that we have known for decades. "El Desconcierto" shows us the different points of view, criticizing the current government and the mistakes they have made. This feature is very important, since for example television is not shown at all and tries to clean up the image of politics. 

In addition, this site tries to show another reality and give a voice to the people who do not have it through its informative notes.

I recommend "El Desconcierto" to all the people who want to be informed in a correct way and without filters to be able to make a good criticism of society.

How Can Your Major Make the World a Better Place

Hello everyone!

Journalism is very important as a historical record and as an expression for society. 

However, if used in a bad way it could limit the freedom of individuals and society. Many totalitarian governments try to instill censorship or negative ideas through the media (radio, newspapers or television) to manipulate people. Also, in some cases the press is used to clean the image of corrupt characters.  

Nowadays, fake news has taken over social networks, misinforming people in different areas. The most popular at the moment is the Covid-19 vaccine.  

A society cannot be free if it does not know the true reality.

As a future journalist I would like to promote the freedom of people and societies to build a better place. With my work and journalistic activity I want to promote change day by day. Future generations will know about us through the records left by television, radio, newspapers, reports and books. 

A good journalistic activity helps the population to detect the faults of the society in which they live, to be able to show them freely and change them.
